Collective Gardens Moratorium

After a public hearing, the City of Shelton's six-month moratorium on medical marijuana collective gardens continues.

As required by law, the Shelton City Commission held the hearing Monday night to take testimony on the moratorium which was enacted two weeks ago. The moratorium gives staff time to draft regulations governing these types of gardens allowed under Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5073. The bill, partially signed into law by the Governor earlier this year, allows ten or fewer persons to join together and grow cannabis for medical use.

Only one person testified, stating he was not for or against these gardens but suggested the City work with the Port of Shelton to locate the gardens on Port property. The City Commissioners then took no action, meaning the moratorium continues.
