CO2 Pads?

Green Halo

Hey there boys and girls
As a new grower (just started my first) I spent several months reading many books and choosing the right grow system for me and my location and now that every is complete my hydro store guy suggested that I use CO2 pads to bring CO2 into the room.Has anyone heard of these? Use them? Do they work?

Thanks for your input.

He probably meant CO2 "tabs", which I haven't heard much positive about as regards cost versus effectiveness.

Maybe someone whose tried to use them can provide some feedback.

you can contact one of the mods if you would like to change the subject of the thread to read "tabs" instead of "pads"

take care brother

Hey there thanks for the reply but these really are CO2 Pads I have them now and there a white pad about 18x18 that you hang on a hanger and moisten with a spray bottle to emit CO2. You can see them at Home Page what do you think?

High Green Halo,
I'm skeptical of those things. I'm using another gimmick co2 product called the co2 boost bucket. It does work to a certain point and then is either useless or too expensive to keep active. I'm currently trying my own mushroom compost co2 boost to see if I can use that as a good option before I break down and cough up the cash for a water cooled generator.
Anyways back to the pads. Since they are new the only two ways to tell if they work are grow a crop with and another crop without them to see if there is an improvement.
An instant way to tell if there is a benefit is with one of these

These retail for $15 and come with two testing tubes. Additional test tubes are $5. They should be available at your local hydro shop or you can find them online. The test will give you unbiased facts on if the product works thru science rather than store or manufacturer testimonials.:goodluck:

Hey we were sceptical too then we saw them work...
Now I have seen them in almost every store in San Diego.. IGS, Mighty hydro, Santee hhydro on Greentrees website, hydrobrew and more in OC. Store managers and oweners alll tell me the same story. These green pads do work expecially for small to mid size rooms. mine is 8x8x10 and meter readidng up to 1400 ppm with 2-3 pads at a time. I limit my fresh air and respray the pads before I leave. they also have them for clone domes for faster rooting and 100% strike rate on cuttings...hope they work for you too Halo! :grinjoint:

It doesn't seem to me that you can count on anything but a mechanical, metered method of delivering co2. When running a true 12-1500ppm Co2 room, your plants will be absorbing everything at an accellerated rate. Once, this accellerated rate is acheived, this critical balance needs to be maintained.

Any co2 is beneficial, regardless of how it's delivered but to see the big results that are often claimed, every published study that i have read suggests a consistent 1200-1500ppm is required during the daylight hours. This along with increased light intensity and nutrient level.
