State Rep. Joann Ginal will host a community forum Saturday to talk cannabis and its legal environment.
The conversation follows discussions at the national level that have some in the Colorado marijuana industry concerned about its future. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Monday his office would pursue "responsible policies" regarding the enforcement of federal laws against marijuana, though he did not elaborate, according to the Associated Press.
"I am definitely not a fan of expanded use of marijuana," he said. "But states, they can pass the laws they choose. I would just say, it does remain a violation of federal law to distribute marijuana throughout any place in the United States, whether a state legalizes it or not."
Ginal, a Fort Collins Democrat, will be joined by marijuana dispensary Choice Organics' processing manager and compliance officer.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the basement of Mugs Coffee Lounge at 261 S. College Ave.
