The city and county of Denver will host its second Marijuana Management Symposium in October for those who implement state and local policies and regulations for their marijuana businesses.
The event will be at the Colorado Convention Center on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. The city's 2015 symposium was the first government-organized cannabis event of its kind. Last year there were 220 attendees and 110 presenters and staff who went to conference sessions on data collection, law enforcement and public safety.
"We are so proud and excited to again host this gathering of regulators, officials and visionaries," Ashley Kilroy, Denver's executive director of marijuana policy, said in a statement. "The symposium is a great opportunity for regulators to exchange ideas and best practices, and to discuss what managing legal marijuana looks like at the local and state levels."
Denver developed the symposium to help regulators gain insight and guidance for managing marijuana in their communities.
In tandem, the Cannabis Sustainability Symposium will be hosted separately on Oct. 26 by the Organic Cannabis Association at the same location, with support from Denver's Department of Environmental Health.
Information about the management symposium can be obtained at DMMS2016.org, and the sustainability symposium at CannabisSustainability.org.
