Police made a bust early Tuesday morning in a private residence in L'Assomption and seized hundreds of pot plants in a grow-operation.
A man in his 30s was arrested on site. The plants, numbering close to 500 in various stages of growth, were in three rooms in the basement of the house on Notre Dame St., said Constable Sophie Légaré with the Service de police de L'Assomption/St-Sulpice.
The bust is the culmination of an investigation that began several months ago. The man found in the house has a previous criminal record and will be appear before a judge on Tuesday in Joliette on charges of production of illegal drugs. Légaré said she does know at this point whether the man was an independent entrepreneur or whether he was part of a drug network.
