Clone problems

I have an areo cloner and I am having a problem with the clones .
they have been in the cloner for approx 2 weeks and the leaves are still green but when I pull the clone out to see roots there are no roots and the stems are a brown colour and when I touched one the stem broke in half :helpsmilie:
I keep the res temp at 70 to 75 deg and the pump runs at 3min on and 5 min off . please help
also my mother plant has perished and I have no other way to get more clones
I was wondering if I could recut the stems and push the clone down through puck exposing the fresh piece of stem
I have plants that are 2 weeks into flower and was wondering if it is to late to take new clones from them ?
also water is ph 5.8 to 6.2 with 1/3 strenth veg nutes
can someone help?
thanks

I dont think u should be using nutes for the cuttings. When i take cuttings off to make clones i jus soak the stem in some hormex for a minute then out into a jiffy cubetbat has been soaking in ph water/hormex solution. As for taking clones off a flowering plant, u should do it asap cus after the 2nd wk or so the plant is switching horomones to produce bud so itll be harder to get clones. This is wut ive heard n im no expert.

Peace

I just rooted my first time using a diy cloning mister. I had 100% success using tap (well) water, dipping in clonex adding dyna-gro kln, pro tekt and super thrive. Ph at 5.2 to start and held at 6.0 after it stabalized. Roots started to pop in 5 days. Added rapid start and was ready to add nutrients and transplant at 10 days. Feeding the clones before they have roots will only slow the proccess and lower the success rate. I have had years of experience cloning in soil and only with prefect conditions could I have rooted starts this fast and rarely with 100% success.

thanks for replying I have just baught and hookedup a reverse osmoses system and was wondering if I need to add anything to ro water or just use it as it is ? also should I use ro water or tap water for cloning?

I would use just tap water. If on a city water system let it sit for a day or so to remove the chlorine. Try Dyna-Gro KLN and superthrive or B-1 in your water. Add GH Rapid Start after roots have shown and you will see amazing root growth. I also pluged in the pump and let it run with the lights on 24/0. Always start with a clean system.

ro water is fine, tap is fine if you let it sit in an open container for at least 24 hours, a drop or 2 superthrive is good, clean clean clean system is a must, watch temps to warm will slow it down and invite fungus to grow, you dont need rooting horomone in a cloner, andit can actually cause problems try 1 min on 6 -10 min off on the cycle, no light leaks in to the stems,, im not a big fan of cloners, i use coco coir based jiffy type pods and rootone a heating pad on low, and a humidity dome, and a 13 watt 65 00k cfl, i use the glr superior light cycle (12 hours light on, 5 1/2 hours off,1 hour on, 5 1/2 hours off, repeat) i have 100% success for the last 40-50 clones
hope this helps:peace:

Good afternoon hiway and members of 420magazine,

My colleagues and I conduct experiments in aerocloners for a botanical research center.
I'm stopping in to offer this optimized technique pertaining to your aerocloning ventures.

The JohnFebabon Sterile Aerocloning Technique:

Use a 24/0 lighting schedule (no dark period).
Use plain non pH adjusted tap water in your aerocloner.
Do not let the water sit overnight to evaporate the chlorine.
The chlorine is the reason to use the tap rather than the reverse osmosis filtered water.
Chlorine temporarily keeps the system sterile.
After 48 hours most of the chlorine will have evaporated out of the system.
At the end of day 2 add Dutch Master Zone (chloramine) at the rate of 1ml per every 4L of water.
Chloramine will keep the system sterile and takes 6-7 days to evaporate out of the system.
If you are running the system longer than 10 days apply the DM Zone at the same concentration every 7 days.

TL;DR

24/0 lighting.
Use nonadjusted tap H2O.
No overnight evaporation.
Day 03: +1ml DM Zone per 4L H2O
Reapply DM Zone every 7 days.

yeah i started useing tap right away not long after that post over a year ago and figured the tiny bit of chlorine was a help, so your method re asserts my new thoughts on that, good post thank you
i had meant to come back and mention that i had not been bothering with aging the tap water, since theres no roots and not really any uptake on fresh clones, and have also learned that the plants actually ned a small amount of chlorine tap levels are generally perfect for that unless your water co. uses to much (not likely)
