CLK vs HPS

Hey, i'm building my 1st box. Was looking at everyone setup, & saw some are using the compact fluorscent light and not hps nor a MH light. Can I ask why would someone choose that over a hps mh light? What are pro and cons of using those other lights? and yes i know put clf and not CFL

A pro to using CFL's would be heat. If you have a small growspace a CFL will give off less heat than an HID.

A con to using CFL's would be light intensity. You would need about 400w (true watts) worth of CFL's to equal the lumen output of one 250w hps.

Another thing to consider is you can put a plant much closer to CFL bulbs. You have to maintain a certain distance with HID lights to avoid burning your plants, surely valueable lumens are lost within the larger gap in the lights.

I guess that in the end it is just a matter of what works best for the setup. I use CFL's for vegging and I think they do the job very well considering my veg space is a closet and is a small one at that.
