City Council Thinking About Banning Pot Delivery Services

Bad news for people immobilized by illness and lazy stoners alike--the city could put the kibosh on pot delivery services, which have been getting a lot of attention since LA's new marijuana dispensary ordinance went into effect. City Councilmember Jose Huizar, who originally proposed the ordinance's 70 dispensary cap, has asked the city attorney to investigate pot delivery and draft an amendment "on an emergency basis to clarify the ordinance's language on the transportation of marijuana," according to a press release from his office. MyFoxLA quotes from the motion: "The city has received dozens of complaints regarding this new ruse that has arisen in an attempt to circumvent city and state regulations governing the city's collectives."
"Who's going to complain?" says other councilman.

Funnily enough, in an NPR story today, Councilmember Denniz Zine is quoted saying, "Who's going to complain? The person who's receiving [the marijuana] is not going to complain. The person who's delivering is not going to complain. The neighbor is not going to complain because they don't know what's going on." And a delivery service operator says he's asked the city to look into regulation, "but gotten no response."
