Christmas Tree: First Indoor Grow

Bought a super cheap budget setup to see if I had the patience to tend to an indoor grow. If grew guerilla style outdoors years ago but finally decided to try an indoor grow. I know my setup is not ideal but I am using the cheap stuff to figure out what works and what doesn't. I'm running a 1000w Giixer in a 2x2x4 tent with a Cloudline 4" exhaust. Unfortunately I know nothing about the strain since it was grown from bagseed. Def. an indica structure. I vegged for for 1 month and switched to 12/12 on 11/29. Using Fox farms CocoLoco and their feeding trifecta but using the nutes at only 1/2 strengthI live on a farm and get my water from a well so I have not been PH'ing my water and it seems to be doing fine for now.
The light is kept about a foot above the plant. Humidity stays between 40-55% I keep the day temp around 76 (tip of top cola) and let it get down to 64 at night. I keep the intake running 24/7 and run an oscillating fan when the light is on. Watering about every 4th day but I will need to water on the third day starting this week due. I use the Fox farm nutes every other watering. The day after she is watered with the well water and fox farm nutes she will visibly swell. I have done no LST and did not top or FIM. Just a little tucking and bending.

I have not had any major set backs so far and really feel like I have been blessed due to this being a bagseed grow. Again this is just a grow to see if I could use this setup with any success. I dont mind purchasing a higher end LED for my next grow since I will have the tent filled with plants, but the Giixer 1k has done well with just this single plant.
Please give me any input you have!!! I'm all ears! Merry Christmas!!

**pics are several days old. Much has changed. Will get updated pics when she wakes up today. I need a pic of the whole set up as well.

Merry Christmas @SomeFire Nice looking plant you have there. Do you think it will fill the tent by the end of flowering? Looks like it's going well :thumb:

Thanks for the kind words, keeping my fingers crossed I don't run into any issues! I will get some pictures tonight so you can see the size, it's small but I am planning to do 3 to 4 this size (SOG) when I start my next grow. I have also considered getting an additional 2x2 tent to veg in. The 2x2 floor size is nice for a small closest grow but the 48" height leaves very little room once your lighting, fans and filter are installed. I would have to do some major training on any sativa I put in there as I only have about 2' above the 2 gallon pot to play with.

She needed water! She should perk up by the morning. I fixed that right before taking the shots. She is tiny but mighty for sure. The more she grows the less "Indica" type leaf structure I seed. She is almost like a squatty Sativa. Do you guys think I need to open her up a little, she is way leafy? From what I understand about 50/50 of growers say to remove SOME fan leaves the other say dont touch anything in mid flower. Anybody have any ideas on possible genetics and how much longer I may expect? I live in a legal area so I can get "connesueir" grade cannabis but there is nothing like growning your own meds no matter the quantity or strength!

I grow outside, so may be different than in a tent, but I do extensive trimming throughout flowering. To the point of causing a little stress, in hopes of driving the plant's flowering/survival response to grow more flower since they are denied pollination.

Are you removing leaves daily or doing a large amount at one time?

About once a week. The very first time there will be lots to come off. At the beginning a lot of the big fan leaves are yellowing, so they come off as they go pale. As weeks go by the branches take on a bottle brush look. You can also take off any small spindly undergrowth that wont be producing anything.

Thank you, I've been removing any small lower growth that will never get light. I have also been removing the lower leaves as they dry and yellow. Do you reccomend doing the top snip method for the colas? (Just removed the very top pistils) I used to do this any never noticed any difference on the outdoor buds.

"Do you reccomend doing the top snip method for the colas? (Just removed the very top pistils)"

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.

I've developed my own technique to get all but the smallest sugar leaves out of the cola. Any others get snipped off with shears at harvest. Maybe that's not what you mean though.

...back to you

I was referring to the method where you actually trim the white pistols off of the very top of the bud midway through flower. It has been said to promote bulking by some. The thinking is the plant thinks the bud has hit another branch and cannot grow any taller but needs to grow in surface area.

Interesting. Well it stands up in discussion, plants do posses proprioception, so what you're saying sounds plausible. I've never tried it. It would be interesting if you could do an A/B comparison with 2 adjacent buds from the same plant and show us pics during the process.

snipping the top of the growing cola, referred to as back building, has been done on the forum with side by sides. Hyena Merica did it in one of his attic grows.

Update, Yesterday. I am colorblind as heck so you guys are going to be my lifeline when the trichomes start to change.

This is a must have gadget.

They're weird to get used to. Through one of these you'll see on a daily basis as the trichomes change CEAR Cloudy and Amber
