California - Crossing over double yellow lines on Highway 20 in Lake County got a 21-year-old driver pulled over by a sheriff's deputy and 256 pounds of processed marijuana in the man's U-Haul van resulted in his arrest, sheriff's officials said. Deputies arrested driver Jorge Jerson Tellez of Reedley, suspecting he was transporting the marijuana for sales. He was stopped late Sunday night, while traveling east on the rural highway in Clearlake Oaks. The deputy saw the box van cross illegally into an oncoming lane and pulled over the driver near Keys Boulevard.

In Santa Rosa Sunday night, a Sebastopol man was stopped by the CHP for his illegally tinted windows and was arrested after officers found he had 105 pounds of processed marijuana in his car, said the CHP. In Lake County, the deputy asked Tellez about the smell of marijuana in the car and the driver showed him a partially smoked marijuana cigarette. When asked what was in the van, the driver replied "bud," sheriff's officials said.

A search turned up numerous large plastic containers, large garbage bags, a duffel bag and a suitcase filled with the plants, sheriff's officials said. Deputies arrested Tellez on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and transportation. He was booked into the Lake County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
