cfl question

Hey everyone. Just had a quick question about cfl. Is there any difference in the cfl sold at the hydro shops vs hardware stores? I just found a few cfls at the hardware store that was higher wattage,more lumens and the same size as the ones at the hydro shop. They were also about $3 cheaper.

the thing I would look for is the lumens, as that is how to gauge how much lighting you need for your plants. From what i recall, each plant needs around 2700 lumens, so i would use that as your guide to selecting the right bulbs.

A lot of people buy their cfls from a hardware store. I know you can also find hps and mh bulbs at Home Depot much cheaper than the hydro shop.

Just take as much lumens as you can ...and right color temp(2700-6500k)
You can't make big mess with cfl ...its so simple and easy-

yes very simple. add more lights as the plants get bigger.

Thanks for the respose everyone. I have a 4' 4 bulb T5 setup right now, but my girls are bushing out from under it so I thought I would add a few cfls to supplement while vegging.
