Hi
I've been reading a lot of grow journals and read that guys add the wattage of cfl together in their setup, why is that? where can I find out more info on cfl ?

Thanks

Subbed. HaHa I'm looking myself about the exact size,- like watt, Lumens and K amount is the best to get for adding to my vegging Leds witha regular work light fixture, because the box just says its for Incandenscent bulbs up to 100w so I wonder if a CFL bulb would work in it. :nomo:

Those fixtures should be ok I think, because the only problem with any fixtures will be heat or current pulled, but since most cfl's run cooler than incandescent bulbs and most that are capable to grow under are rated less than 100w they won't draw too much current to cause a meltdown or a pop.

I figured out where the "search" function for the forum is and found this great read, with many little attention

Thank You, thank you thank you Vitiki-- I didn't see the cfl link in the forums and the search came back 'use different words etc.' I'm heading there now. Happy Easter m8.

How nice of you QueenToke: I just finished the cfl tutorial journal from Vitiki then ran to Lowes and got most of the right equipment and lights, lol. I'm heading over to the links that you posted now because it's all sooo interesting. I'm so used to HPS and LEDS where I didn't have to understand the K's, colors and different watt-use-purposes. Naturally Lowes didn't have the 42w CFL but they do have the23w and I think the 13w. 23w,then when I got home I saw that they has smaller screw-ins than the regular bulbs, lol. O Well, getting there. :thankyou: for the links.

Awww shucks, it twas nothing, just copy and paste...lol....I don't mind helping people. I am just promoting the love that has been given to me since being here.Well 23w is better than the 13w of course. I have that same problem when I was looking for lights. I was even going to the dollar store looking for them. Even the hydro/garden store I go to didn't have anything above 23w daylight which was weird to me. It seems like most find higher wattage lights online. I never even noticed about the smaller screw thing.

Look at this way, Rome wasn't built in a day and even the most experienced grower seems to be always upgrading or improving their grows. Like a fine wine, it all comes with time.
