Ceramic Metal Haylide

I have just used a cmh for the first time and had good results. I just dont see much chatter about them, I thought they were supposed to be the closest spectrum of sunlight. Is this true, or are HPS still better for flower??

Hps is more.desirable in terms of flowering, the yields tend to be larger although not much. I always run 2 600 Hps with a 400cmh in the middle for a nice mixed spectrum. Mh or cmh will give tighter node spaces and can help increase trichome production. They're definetly capable of holding their own. Bulb type is largely preference tho. There's ups and Downs to each.

Thanks fellas, I have 2- 400 watters, one cmh and one hps. My hps is just the common one bought for any use about $25. I was looking to upgrade my hps to a eyelux or something like that. Is it worth it IYO.....Any ideas on the best lamp. Also, my lights are the high bay constraction type with the ballast above the lamp so I believe they are magnetic because they hum a little. Can you use the same lamp for digital and magnetic ballasts or do you need to purchase accordingly?

Ceramic metal halides can only run in magnetic HPS ballasts, with the exception of the new CMH bulbs which are for pulse start ballasts. The one with the better spectrum for growing is the one for the HPS Ballast.

I have been running 2 hoods over a 3x3 scrog screen one have a CMH and the other a standard HPS, I have recently switched to flower and it seems that the nodal spacing is longer under the CMH but has better color. There are two plants in 5 gal buckets getting the same soil and nutes. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I will try to post pics later
