Alabama - A bill to legalize one form of medical marijuana is gaining support from Alabama lawmakers. This week, the state senate plans to debate a bill to legalize one form of the drug. "Carly's Law" is named for 3-year-old Carly Chandler who suffers from epilepsy as a result of a rare genetic disorder. Her parents say they haven't had success with other medicines, but an oil form of medical marijuana has a high success rate on patients like Carly.

"If you educate the people properly, they understand what we're trying to do. And the support has been overwhelming. When we educate them on what this could mean for Alabama, they're asking me questions like 'Why aren't we doing this already,'" Carly's father Dustin Chandler said. The Epilepsy Foundation has called for an increase in medical marijuana access and research.
