For the second time in two weeks, the Cape Coral police department has confiscated 400 marijuana plants, valued at $1 million, in grow house busts at four homes.
On Wednesday, the Vice Intelligence Narcotics Unit arrested three people and all were involved in the operations at the four homes.
A search warrant was served at the home on 3619 Caloosa Parkway. Officers found an elaborate cultivation operation but did not find marijuana inside the home; however, they did discover a black garbage bag in some nearby bushes which contained marijuana plants.
While at the home, contact was made with two men named Luis Batista and Jorge Pizat. Luis Batista admitted to discarding the garbage bag the previous evening. Batista also gave permission for authorities to do a search of his residence at 3906 NW 40th Terrace. Inside, another elaborate marijuana cultivation operation was discovered which included marijuana, lighting equipment, air conditioning equipment and other hardware related to growing marijuana.
An investigation revealed that Piza, lived at 1120 SW 28th Terrace. A search warrant was then obtained for the home on 1120 SW 28th Terrace. The garage contained marijuana and an elaborate marijuana cultivation operation.
Authorities also searched a home located at 230 SW 21st Terrace. Upon entering the home, officers discovered that one room and the garage were made into an elaborate marijuana cultivation operation, the report said. The person living at the home, Maria Perez, was arrested and charged with Cultivation of Marijuana.
Police have determined that Batista and Pizat were responsible for setting up and taking care of most of the grow houses.
A break down of what was discovered at each home:
3619 Caloosa Parkway: 46 marijuana plants.
1120 SW 28th Terrace: 55 marijuana plants.
