CannaHelp Dispensary Owners Arrested

The owners of a local medicinal marijuana dispensary are behind bars tonight after turning themselves in.

It is the latest chapter in CanaHelp's ongoing saga to stay open for business and stay legitimate.

This time, the owners of the medicinal marijuana dispensary, Stacy Hochanadel and his two partners, turned themselves in at the Indio Police Department jail.

Volunteers who continue to operate CannaHelp say the county issued an arrest warrant last week. The charges include possession and distribution of marijuana and maintaining and operating CannaHelp.

"They've not violated any laws," said one volunteer we spoke with. "They are standing up and trying to be forthcoming again, even though they're being persecuted by Riverside County Sheriff's."

Police and federal agents once raided CannaHelp on suspicion it sold marijuana for profit. And more recently, the city of Palm Desert issued an order to stop doing business.

This came after an undercover cop allegedly bought pot from the dispensary without the necessary medical credentials.

"That's a civil issue which is separate of whatever criminal investigation Riverside County Sheriff's is enacting at this time."

Still, supporters say CannaHelp's owners have done nothing wrong at least on the state level.

"I'm not sure why they're trying to take away all forms provided to qualified patients."
