A 68-year-old grandmother has been found guilty of growing and possessing cannabis.
Patricia Tabram, of Humshaugh, near Hexham, claimed she took the drug for health reasons after she developed insomnia and other mental health issues.
But a jury at Carlisle crown court convicted her of drug offences and she faces sentencing later today.
Tabram conducted her own defence and had previously told officers from Northumbria police that she would continue taking the drug, which she added to meals rather than smoking, regardless of their actions.
Officers originally arrested and cautioned Tabram after finding 31 cannabis plants and cultivation equipment at her house in May 2004.
Police again arrested her on June 30th that year after finding quantities of the drug and items which led them to believe she was supplying the cannabis to others.
Tabram pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and received a suspended sentence in September 2005.
A further search warrant was executed after that sentence was passed which resulted in the charges the grandmother, known by the media as the 'Cannabis gran', faced in court today.
"Patricia Tabram has consistently flouted the law and Northumbria police has a duty to act on the information we receive concerning possessing and cultivating drugs in order to enforce this law," a police spokeswoman said.
"We take drug abuse very seriously and are keen to use all tools at our disposal to eliminate drug dealing and use in the community."
The judge in the case will examine a probation report before delivering his sentence.
