This is my story, it may be a little long, but its worth a read. Info and other things that may help.
I have had chronic pain, muscle spasms and pinching nerves for over 5 years. It was the result of a Motor Vehicle Accident. I do work, and am in a safety sensitive position, therefore this subject is a little touchy. However, keeping up with legislature allows me to feel safer when it comes to Medical Cannabis. I have had pain, spasms, shooting pain, nerve pain, numbness, and more. I have been on many different medications from taking things like robax, all to way up to a synthetic version of Morphine and everything in between. Having tried over 15 different medications as well as being on 5 medications at once, I had had enough. Being on so many different medications was not fun as they stopped working after a while and it was a trial and error. The last we tried, I was on i was on 5 different medications and it was terrible, 3 days after starting the medications, I had to stop due to severe side effects. I have also tried Chiropractor, Physiotherapy and a few other types of treatment with no results. With my chronic condition, pain management is key as my condition is only getting worse with no available treatments other than medication and therapeutic massages.
I went to my Doctor and we finally decided to try Medical Cannabis. As I live in Canada, access is legal, and the regulation (ACMPR as well as the former MMPR which were the two that affected me) are very well written to protect the government but also protects the patients as well. It also tell you exactly where you can smoke/vaporize cannabis in public. This is nice as it allows more freedom as it allows you more flexibility to medicate in public.
I have been Licensed since June of 2016. I have tried multiple strains, ranging in THC and CBD levels. I have also tried oil. Licensed producers were the only place you could get your cannabis under the MMPR. The new ACMPR regulations let you grow up to 5 plants indoors per gram/day allowed. LP's are good but mine does not always have the strains I am looking for, therefore i have applied to grow my own. You do need license from the government therefore you cant just decide that the LP's are not cutting it.
I have tried a variety of strains ranging from over 20%THC and less than 1% CBD to less than 1% THC and 14% CBD and everything in between. It was a trial and error for me as most as there are a lot of different varieties and every strain affects everyone differently.
Also, from my experiences, different strains even though the THC content is nearly identical(within 1%), my experience and effects were different. Now saying this , some may say you smoke more or less of one or another, however, I have a vaporiser and everything is measured. I am just picky like that. Therefore my intake is very similar. Now if I do feel a strain is not working or not enough, then I simply go out more frequently. I have found 4 different strains that help with my condition which is great as there is usually always 1 of the 4 available. I also liked the oil. It is a different experience and the effects last much longer. However, overall, I prefer to vaporize rather than use oil, but that is my experience, everyone is different depending on your condition.
There are also other issues some Canadian Medical Cannabis Users are not aware of and I strongly suggest you read up on the laws/legislation that affect you or the patient in which the country or state you live in.
There is more to my my story, however it would be long. if you have any questions comments, or anything leave it in the comments. THANK YOU FOR READING.
