Seattle, Washington, United States (AHN) - Canadian marijuana seed dealer Marc Emery pleaded guilty on Monday to drug charges filed before a Seattle court. With the guilty plea for conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, Emery will spend the next three months in a Washington jail for sentencing.

Emery, who calls himself Prince of Pot, was extradited to the United States in early May. He runs the Cannabis Culture shop in Vancouver and is president of the British Columbia Marijuana Party. Emery was arrested in 2005 for selling marijuana seeds to U.S. residents through mail order. He fought the extradition to the U.S. for several years, but lost when Ottawa did not object to the extradition.

U.S. Attorney General Jenny Durkan said Emery will receive a five-year prison term for selling mail order marijuana seeds, 75 percent of which end up in the U.S.

Emery’s wife, Jodie, is trying to get Marc, 52, to serve the five-year sentence in Canada. Washington and Ottawa, however, must approve the request for Marc to return to Canada to serve his sentence.
