Approximately 500 marijuana plants, as well as grow op equipment were seized by Lac du Bonnet RCMP on Friday April 24.
During a traffic stop on Thursday April 23 RCMP noticed waste in a vehicle that is commonly produced from operating a grow op and a strong odor of marijuana. A search order was obtained for a nearby rural residence in the RM of Reynolds that was connected to the driver.
During the search, officers from Lac du Bonnet, Whitemouth and Beausejour detachments seized around 500 marijuana plants, grow op equipment and arrested one person. Ba Tong Ly, 56 from Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Production of Marijuana and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He is expected to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court Monday.
