With an influx of illegal medical marijuana dispensaries in the City of Vancouver in recent years - eighty to be exact - do you ever wonder where all of that pot comes from?
Speaking to CKNW’S Shelby Thom, the owner of Weeds Glass and Gifts marijuana dispensary, Don Briere, says he purchases cannabis from around fifteen people with Health Canada issued personal production licenses.
Briere: “We buy, basically, from licensed producers, who have personal production licenses, and these people have an injunction.”
Thom: “But a personal production license from Health Canada, they are technically only suppose to grow for themselves.”
Briere: “You can grow for other people…”
Reporter “But you are not supposed to supply to a commercial operation”…
Briere: “No, you are not.”
Briere says sees a trend towards decriminalization - so he’s entered into long-term leases at all of his Vancouver-area dispensaries.
