Can pure Sativas be mother plants?

I am coming up on my first anniversary as a for self grower and want to grow and clone the South African Kwaszulu which is a landrace sativa, since they grow really fast I was thinking can this make a good mother plant and how much work would it be to maintain it.

yes they can. any female plant can be with the exception of auto's

mothers typically are all the same for maint. just clip them when they get too big.
