California -- The city of Calexico has enacted an ordinance that would keep medical marijuana dispensaries out of the city, at least for now.
The temporary ordinance gives the city 45 days to study pros and cons of allowing dispensaries within city limits.
The Calexico Police Officers Association says they oppose allowing dispensaries within the city because of potential negative effects such as a possible rise in crime.
If the Council does not reach a decision within 45 days they have the option to extend the dispensary ban for another 10 months.
