Three people have been arrested after law enforcement officers located an estimated $1.7 million worth of marijuana plants at two homes in Roseville's West Park neighborhood.
Officers from the Roseville Police Department and a Placer County regional task force served a search warrant at the homes in the 2300 block of Kinsella Way on Tuesday and confirmed that they were being used to grow marijuana for illegal out-of-state sales, according to a Police Department Facebook post. Officers seized more than 1,100 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $1.17 million.
Jinfu Gao, 65, Wen Guang, 51, and Xiuqin Zhou, 61, all from Roseville, were arrested on suspicion of maintaining a place for drug use, cultivation of marijuana and conspiracy.
Roseville police in early August received information regarding suspicious activity at the two houses. The windows of the garages were covered, and there were few signs of normal residential activity at the houses, according to police.
Detectives from the Placer County Special Investigations Unit and the Roseville Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit served the search warrant and found that both houses were being used almost entirely for growing marijuana, with sleeping quarters for people tending the plants, police reported. Investigators also determined that the suspects weren't growing the marijuana for medical use in California under the state's Compassionate Care Act, but instead shipping it to the state of New York for illegal sales, according to police.
