David Deardorff and Kathryn Wadsworth, authors of "What's Wrong with My Marijuana Plant? A Cannabis Grower's Visual Guide to Easy Diagnosis and Organic Remedies" will show how to diagnose your plant's ills and fix them by first changing growing conditions, then using biocontrols, and finally applying organic remedies.

Organic cannabis care is important, especially for the production of medicinal marijuana, organizers said. Cannabis, like other crops, is subject to a number of pests, diseases, and abiotic disorders. Abiotic disorders result from poor growing conditions and account for 75 percent of problems. Simply adjusting your growing conditions will fix the situation. Pests and diseases only cause 25 percent of production problems and all except viruses respond to biological controls and organic remedies.

Deardorff has a doctorate in botany from University of Washington and taught plant pathology at University of Hawaii. Wadsworth studied film at University of New Mexico and has been a wildlife photographer and eco-tour leader around the world.

The presentation will take place Thursday with a slide talk from 3-5 p.m. and a roundtable from 6-8 p.m. at Rincon-Vitova Insectaries, 108 Orchard Drive in Ventura.
