Desiring to demonstrate that the city does not favor marijuana establishments, the Chino Hills city council will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday to extend a 45-day moratorium on marijuana-related land uses to 10 months and 15 days.
City staff is considering changing the zoning code to prohibit marijuana-related land uses in every zone to the maximum extent allowed under state law, according to a city staff report.
The council on Nov. 22 prohibited permits related to marijuana, including cultivation and sales, in response to the passage of Prop. 64 that legalized marijuana use for adults.
The moratorium was intended to allow reasonable time for the city to consider zoning standards governing marijuana-related land use.
The council also introduced an urgency ordinance banning marijuana businesses and a non-urgency ordinance to back it up.
