With the passing of Prop 64, marijuana is legal.
But for the city of Bakersfield and Kern County, the work is just being to answer some of the questions legalization presents.
The city will begin discussing issues the city faces, like allowing medical marijuana dispensaries, at the start of next year. They are delaying discussions because two new council members were elected last week.
As for the county, the Board of Supervisors says an environmental impact report is the first step to determining what regulations they may put on marijuana.
The report will be completed by the end of 2017. The board also said they will discuss sales tax revenue, water usage and potential criminal impacts in the coming year.
