Buds drying at different rates?

This happens to me too. Usually in the winter when I can't control humidity. When it does happen, I trim them all and place them in containers with a hygro. I usually try to put the dryer between layers of the wet. Starting the next morning, and based on the reading on the hygro...which are usually something like 75 or so...I lay them out for about 30 minutes, then back into the container until the next morning.
This may not be a great method, but using my wet buds to slow the drying of my dryer buds help me alot. I set them out daily...it usually take another 3 or 4 days....until the hygro reads 60-62 at about 70-75 degrees. Then I watch it for a day or 2 to make sure it stays stable. If it stays in the correct range I pull the hygro and leave the lid on until I feel it is cured.

This is just my method of dealing with the problem, you may get a better answer.

Best of luck.

i ended up trimming and jarring all at once, putting the driest nugs in jars along with some of the wetter ones. 4 hours of trimming layer, i have 7 oz + trim :blunt: here is a main cola from a "Purple Bud" plant that didn't turn purple whatsoever . beautiful & dank smelling regardless

She's a beauty! Have you ever entered anything in the Plant or Nug of the month contests? You might have a good nug there.

technically she's able to smoke. she dried for 6 days before being trimmed and now jarred. a friend and i tested out one of the smaller nugs in a bong. very fruity :)

on my last run I "needed" it quickly, as I was running out. I hung 2 branches in a basement that was about 15% humidity. 4 days in...drier than a popcorn fart.....but still tasted good. The rest were able to slow dry.

That's the most beautiful flower I've ever seen. "Fruity Pebbles" comes to mind. I too have less than stellar drying conditions. I fear that my harvests get too dry. I've tried to battle like this:

I trim leaves and leave flowers on stems
Hang in a big cardboard box with zero airflow added
Pluck flowers off of stems well before they snap (usually at 2-3 days from hang)
Move flowers into 1G glass jars with lids and cheap $5 hygrometers in each.
Spread out flowers daily for 1-4 hrs (depending on RH in the container)
Work the jars down to about 60%
Burp, feel check for the first few days
After 2 weeks they get locked down into quart or pint canning jars.

Man that flower is pretty! Well done!

Edit.. my ambient RH is between 10 and 40%

great info man. I live in southwest CO where it's very arid, so it's hard to keep humidity in at all. the cardboard box with no airflow sounds like it'd do nicely. also thanks for the compliments! :)

Well done... sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! enjoy!!

It is also easier to get rid of moisture by taking them out of the jars than it is trying to put moisture back into the buds if they too dry.
