Im new at this, only a second time grower and the first time wasnt so great !!! I have 2 girls that have been in 5 gallon pots for almost 3 months now. They are already budding and they are just over a foot high. I think that might be unusal, but last years(my first grow) was the same way. Only they were in Colorado and the ones Im growing now are in Tennessee. I had to cut and harvest them early but was still some kick ass pot !! Now I need to know just how long you should let them bud. Ive heard that when the hairs change colors its time to harvest. Mine are already starting to turn a reddish color. WHAT DO I DO ??? HOW LONG DO YOU LET THEM BUD. CAN YOU CUT OFF THE REDDISH BUDS AND JUST LET THE PLANT KEEP ON GROWING ???? IS IT UNUSUAL FOR THEM TO BE BUDDING AT 3 MONTHS???
HELP !!!!!!!
PLEASE !!!!!:peace:

Re: Budding in August ???????

They are 3 months old and only a foot tall? That is pretty odd. Harvest time for most plants is in October. Best way to tell when your plants are ready is to get a magnifying glass and look at the trichromes when they are milky instead of clear you are about a week from harvest.

Re: Budding in August ???????

Can someone explain what "trichromes" are ??? Im guessing that they are the small hairs growing out of the bud. I have 2 females that are just a little over a foot tall and both have already started budding. What do I look for to know when its time to either clip the top buds off or to harvest?? Right now the small hairs on both plants are white and starting to show a reddish color. Any help would be appreciated !! Im new at this and really have no idea what Im doing other than growing these 2 plants and they seem to be doing really good. I know its odd that they arent any taller than they are. Could it be because I have them in 5 gallon pots instead of growing them in the ground???
Thanks for any help you might can offer.

Re: Budding in August ???????

trichomes are the crystals that form during flowering. The small White hairs are called pistles, they sprout out of calyxes. when the hairs are roughly 60-70% amber/orange/red it should be time for harvest.

Hope this helps!
