Hello all it is nice to meet you, I am Buck. I have decided to make a grow journal of my first time ever growing cannabis. A little about me, I'm a 20 year Veteran who suffers from Bi-polar disorder and I want to grow cannabis for the medicinal properties. Of course the VA frowns upon cannabis use for medicinal purposes but I will not take anymore of the poison that has been prescribed to me. I have decided to grow my own cannabis because I am sick of smoking ditch weed that I can only presume is Indica dominant because every time I smoke I end up couch locked and fall asleep. I have decided to grow my own cannabis and want to grow sativa dominant strains and purchased Crop King Seeds Jack Herer Autos. I was going to start with just one plant but have decided on two. Here is a little about my setup,

2 CKS Jack Herer Autos planted in 3 gallon Smart pots filled with organic potting soil bought from a local nursery mixed 4 parts soil 1 part organic vermiculite 1 part organic prerlite. They will be grown under two 600W Mars Hydro LEDs. My grow tent is an Apollo measuring 48"x24"x60". I have two 6" fans, one that draws in cool air from an open window and one that discharges warm tent air out the same window. Fans are controlled by a LUC programmable outlet thermostat that keeps my temps from 75F to 78F with an oscillating tower fan that circulates the air inside the tent. Plants are on a 18/6 schedule getting light from 6pm to 12pm. Plants are now just being watered periodically with rain water.

I have named my plants Jackie and Jacqueline. Jackie was put into a Rapid Rooter plug on April 1st and germinated on April 5th she was then transplanted to the smart pot on April 8th. Jacqueline was planted April 11th germinated on the 13th and transplanted to the smart pot today the 15th. Both plants are sharing space in the grow tent with some tomato and pepper plants that I started from seed. Once the weather is warm enough the tomatoes and peppers will be moved outside until they are transplanted in my garden next month. Like I said I am watering them for now with rain water that I collect in a 55 gallon plastic drum. I will use well water if my rain water runs out as we are kind of in a drought right now. I don't see how people use tap water as most tap water is treated with all sorts of chemicals I don't even like to shower in it let alone give it to my plants. I love to garden and I have learned along the way that if you give your plants a good environment to grow in and give them the love they deserve they will always produce for you. I always use the KISS method (Keep it Simple Shithead) when growing plants. Let the plant do what it is going to do it will tell you if it needs something.

Anyway sorry for the long first post, I am excited to see where this grow takes me. I look forward to everyones comments and advise. I have been reading about LST but am nervous about doing it with my plants so any advise on that would be great. I am posting some pics and will update everyone probably once a week on the progress of Jackie and Jaqueline. Take Care everyone. :Namaste:

As for LST do not be intimidated at all, it is not difficult to do at all. If you have doubts, start easy. Grab a branch and slowly start to bend it and see how flexible it is. once you see how flexible they are, bend it again but this time tie it in that bent position. So people use wires some use pipe cleaners some use thick string, what ever you use to tie them or hold them in place just make sure it is not so thin that it will end up cutting the branch, Light fishing line is a very bad choice for LST but twine works great. I have even seen guys/gals use old wire coat-hangers and cut them to stake down their plants.
Each variety is different also, so strains you can literally tie the branch in a knot and it will just keep growing while others will break if you bend them to far.Start small and see how far you can push them and if you do break a branch, it is not the end of the world, it actually taught you a lesson, this variety can only be bent a little less then you did on the branch you broke. I cab still remember the 1st plant I used LST on, I was nervous as heck and was super careful, now I just jump in and start man-handling them, it does not take long to figure out how much you can push them.
Experiment and have fun doing it, be creative and think outside the box, who knows before to long maybe everyone will be doing LST your way.
