This seedling is being grown under sunshine mix #4 aggregate I have no clue whats wrong with it. The medium has no nutes in it so what could it be? The white stuff on the plant is the reflection of the light just misted then took a picture.

Hi and welcome to 420, the light spots in the leaves could be from the water droplets standing on them, the water drops act like little magnifying glasses, and burn your plants when the lights are on. I've never used that soil, but if there are no nutes at all in the soil, you should probably give them a very small amount, since even light soils have some nutes. Have you fed the plant any nutes yet, the brown could also be nute burn, in which case you would need to flush the medium.

thanks for the quick reply Ive been wanting to join this site for a while because of all the well educated answers I see on here. Once again I see another that isn't criticizing my grow right off the bat and is actually helping to find a solution thank you for that. I have not used nutes in the soil once yet and right b4 I I planted into the medium I made sure the run off was clean by running it under a shower head for a couple hours this is recommended to get all the dirtiness out of the peat moss since it has a high ppm run off content if not done.

really stop misting mate that wont be helping unless u have real low RH. The light will burn plants through the water, its unnecessary. Switch to 18/6, it gives the plant a break and allows it to use its stored energy in the dark to grow. I use 24/7 on my cloners as i find they root a few days quicker but switch to 18/6 in veg as the plants grow better imo.

really how come from all the stuff I've read so far they all say 24/7 is the best. I would like to hear your science on how it allows it to grow better when you have the plants under 18/6 instead of 24/7. Also I will stop misting the RH is good in the room anyways around 60 which is excellent for vegging plants.

yea ive misted all my plants for the past 5 plus years all day and never had a problem but i guess to each their own but under t5 to dual 400 watt lamps misting has never been a problem for me and ive grown so many strains it would make your head spin,,

A dark cycle promotes root growth, so 18/6 is better than 24/0 for root growth, the bigger the root the bigger the fruit. If the lights are constantly on, roots will still grow, but not as much, since the plant is not getting any rest. I, as well as Cultivator, speak from from experience, though he has a LOT more than I do.

i have to say i agree but dissagree there has been many studies done in my state at the UW university that says 20 on 4 off is the best for veg, i personally dont have the money they do because they are straught up lab shit but facts are facts and what works works for sure. misting is very important as when you grow indoors you are playing God, idk about you but in may state there is no such thing as no rain and thats what builds up a plants strength same with wind hence why ppl use a fan indoors. Im not trying to put anyone down but i would also love to see this research that says 18/6 is best for plants

Wonderful reply I would like to see it as well. Also the room Im vegging these in are not light proof. If I put it 18/6 like you guys are suggesting, I would have to get a grow tent or something of the sort to block off the light during the dark phases.

As for misting the plant, unless you are foliar feeding to correct a deficiency, there is no need to do it, and I would bet money that is what caused those spots on your leaves. Have you thought about starting a grow journal, you will get more attention/advice to your grow if you do.

Really I had no clue that you had to ph the water you mist with ive always read u can just use plain tap.... ahhh everything I read is so contradicting on the internet its unbelievable where is the god ganja grower when u need him/her. I actually do have a journal ill be posting it when its done for everyone to view every day notes from the new growers perspective problems and solutions. It's a very detailed write up i've been working on since day one.

I can't "show" you any research, unless you would like to dredge through a shit load of journals on this site, but I can speak from experience, and the experience of some friends, not to mention the many experiments the members of this fine site have undergone. I'm definitely not trying to argue with anyone, since that's not what we do on this site, but I do know that 17/7, or 18/6 is better for veg.

ya i guess to each their own but i live in the most weed freindly state in America were we have hempfest, cannabis cup, ect ect every year here with devs from Cannabis Culture, High Life, High Times ect mag that come and speak to the public about growing while throwing out joints to the crowd and never once have i heard of your theory but again to each their own all i know is from studies and ppl that have been growing for decades and 20 on 4 off from the studies here to the studies in Sweden all support this. But really what it comes down to is there is so so so so many ways to grow and if you grow good weed why fuck with what works right?

Can you post some pics of the space, maybe we can help you light proof it? Or maybe you can reduce ambient light by turning off anything that gives off light during the dark cycle.

TBH ive spent almost 2k on my grow I cant see my self going 18/6 due to the fact I would have to buy a tent and that would cost me another 200 for the 16 week veg and all the training I will be doing. Considering all that I will need a bigger tent with vents its just to much of a cost for me atm.
