Boveda Humidity Packs - Why 62%

I'm really unsure about what level of Boveda pack I should get. I have never been a fan of "wet" weed so I think I probably would like it less than 62%. I stuck my hygrometer into my jars to see what the humidity level is at the dryness I usually go with, and they're all at 30-40%. Pretty crispy, but I like to not have to light much to get a nice cherry going. I'm not a fan of "slow burning". Anyway I'm just not sure how accurate that hygrometer in a jar is, and I'm wondering if perhaps it could be closer to 50%? I know they have some packs in the 50 range. Beyond that though, I always feel like my stuff lacks aroma.

Oh and then there was this one time I got some bud that seemed really wet, but it wasn't 'slow burning" at all and it smelled and tasted better than any I've ever had. It got me wondering what humidity level they jarred it at. It wasn't cryspy, it was like kind of soft and supple feeling to the touch (that's the description I've seen people give to the 62% level), but it didn't burn like it was still wet.

So confused...

I know for you veteran growers this might seem like a re-hashed topic because I did Google a bunch on it, but yeah I'm still unsure. Also a bunch of people had horror stories about the 62% packs molding on them :0

Some times proper sticky weed seems wet but its just sticky with resin

Properly dried and jar cured product should not feel "wet" at 62%.

I've had some of mine sitting in jars with the 62% packs for about 6 months now and when I pull one out I am able to break it pretty easy. Not too dry to where I touch it and turns to dust, and not to wet to where it smells musty or like hay. I've also noticed the aroma stays in tact pretty well.

someone recommended i use a 55 pk. I haven't noticed a change in smell. it also it comes with a little humidity card to show it's working and so far so good.

Boveda released 58% packs not long ago :thumb: i have only ran the 62% so far but have been going strong for a year and a half, I find it still burns great at 62 but is a nightmare to grind, usually pull a few buds out in the morning for that extra little crisp, i will be running the 58's on my next harvest which i think will be perfect, defo wouldnt go below 50% any lower it starts to taste like crap ;)
Down to personal preference on how you smoke your weed tbh, 62% would be perfect for joints, for bongs you would want it a bit dryer :thumb:

Well I got my 62% packs yesterday and put one 8 gram pack into each jar. They haven't even been in there for 24 hours so I'm still waiting, but they don't seem to have moistened the buds up at all. That also may be because the buds are not as dry as I thought, I took one out to try and it was crispy on the outside but inside it was more moist.
