YUMA, Ariz. - Border Patrol agents say they have arrested four suspected smugglers and seized assault rifles, night vision goggles and more than 800 pounds of marijuana in southwestern Arizona.
Agents from the Wellton station were on line watch on Thursday when they used surveillance equipment to spot the men northeast of Interstate 8.
Three men tried to hide near a nearby home, but were detained. A fourth was found in a pickup loaded with the marijuana.
A nearby abandoned trailer was searched and the rifles, five handguns, cell phones and the goggles were located.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office took custody of the men and contraband.
