Boo’s Perpetual Grow Journal

Thanks for that SO. It seems to be a reasonably priced solution to not only the plant issues but also my dried out eyes and sinus too! Where do you put yours in the main house?
We live in a split entry so kitchen living room and dining room are one area. It's in the middle of that. We can put way more moisture in the air than is good for the house with it. 40% is where we keep it so the windows don't get all wet. It is a good valus and it's quiet and inexpensive to run. We've had these two for probably 5 years and just keep changing the wick.

Never heard of them, but if you want me to run them through the old nute calculator LMK.
They are part of Grow Strong Industries (as is Gorilla Grow tents) and based in CA. Here are some labels, what do you think? I’m a little confused by the Cal Mag front label. :hmmmm:

I should purchase some small, clear plastic cups.
Yes!
I don’t want to eff up my wood cabinet above it
No. Otter's suggestion sounds better for all your low RH maladies if it's in the budget.

Oof! Without even running through the calc it looks like you'll be low in Mg and high in sulfur. And I don't see the need for the Boost at all.

Do you want a @MrSauga-recommended blend of these for different stages of growth? Or you can stick to their feeding schedule and see how it goes first time through.

I think I will try it out as is first, and then when I start having trouble I'll beg for help! :laughtwo:

Welcome back Boo! It's good to see that you've got some plants in play. :Rasta:

Thanks for the update, Boo! ..winter growing anywhere but inside the house does present some challenges-my garage (where the plants are) was 47f this morning..🥶 (up 5 degrees from last week)
Good luck with the new sprouts, and the new nutes!
I’ve gone thru half a dozen and finally have babies. Here we go:
Been there/do that on a regular basis...although it's a little better since I figured out that it was too hot sitting on the stove- I still use the stove, but I put a half inch of styrofoam under the cup, so it keeps the seeds at 78-80f, instead of the previous 93f, which was slow cooking the seeds instead of germinating them..

I’m uncomfortable with the domes on the seedlings.
I leave the domes on till the sprout greens up and stands up straight, then I tip the dome to let air in for a day or so, then I remove it...sometimes, if the seedling looks distressed, I'll put the dome back on for another day or so- not sure if it helps, but it doesn't hurt, either..
With the domes on for very long, I worry that all that humidity may cause the sprout to "damp off", which is always fatal...

I've seen Lotus used for a few years now.
Don't think you'll have any issues from what I've seen. It is pretty good stuff.
Not sure if folks are using it as-is or tailoring it to their grows though.

Lots of pics of fabulously beautiful Lotus plants on a certain social media site....

I’m really happy you got some baby’s going. I’ve been missing your work with the autos and looking forward to the inspiration you bring. Green and Big!

The breeders may have given stronger more potent strains but they have in mho almost destroyed the vitality of the seeds. I never had the difficulties of starting seeds 20 years ago. Not even close. You just had to weed out the males. Let’s hope someone starts working on making the seeds more viable again.

Hi all! :ciao: Just wanted to drop a quick update on the ladies. Let’s start with the Schuyler Skunk. She’s doing better now that I moved her upstairs and she is warm and fed. So well that she needed an up pot from the one gallon I moved her into a while back. I’m reusing the soil from the last grow (Tangie’matic and Purple Lemonade) so I thought I would augment it with the stuff I’ve got laying around here.
PXL_20230207_192836276.jpg

That‘s approximately 8 gallons of soil. I prefer to mix the mosquito bits into the soil vice a five gallon bucket of water since I prefer to add silica to my feeding water first, then SNS, then nutes, etc.
PXL_20230207_193742532.jpg

Here she is in the 1 gallon pot. She’s really greened up since her environment changed and she’s got a lot of new growth. Gonna try to take some clones from her when she’s a little bigger.
PXL_20230207_194007545.jpg

Me thinks she did a good job filling the pot with roots. I went ahead and mixed in half a gallon of nutrient water into the soil and then plopped her into a five gallon pot.
PXL_20230207_194226891.jpg

Home sweet home….for now. I’m not sure if I’m going to bloom her in the tent or let her veg until it’s safe to put her outside. We shall see what happens. Now on to the babies.
PXL_20230207_194547027.PORTRAIT.jpg

Blackberry is trying oh so hard to make a turn around and I’m going to let her continue for a little while longer. I really wanted to grow one like Carcass’ last year. It was so gorgeous.
PXL_20230207_194557491.PORTRAIT.jpg

This little gal is Mimosa Cake auto. She was born last week and is looking happy as a clam.
PXL_20230207_194552831.PORTRAIT.jpg

And here we have Orange Sherbet auto. She’s happy too, and lanky. I may end up burying her stem into a three gallon pot soon, she’s getting too tall. I thought I had figured out my environmental issues and ordered a second oil heater for the second tent….it took over two weeks to get here and it didn’t work. Zon is saying a new one won’t arrive until Mid-March so I need to pick out a different one. I’m wondering if I can put all the babies along with the Skunk into my tent with the two Atreum Hydras, the one heater, the Vicks warm steam humidifier, and heating mats. They are all huddled together on the washing machine and that seems to be working so I may just give that a shot tomorrow. 🤞

Now to the quotes:

Nice to see a slew of plants here again. Can't wait until they're worth a ruler!
Or maybe three rulers… :cheesygrinsmiley:
Oh there ya go! Seems like old times at the BooGrow. :)
Gettin’ there Shed!
Because of the high sulfur and low nitrogen numbers you might want to have some magnesium nitrate in your Amazon cart. Mine is from Greenway.
Thank you!

Thanks GDB. I’ve been trying really hard so hopefully no issues with what I’ve got now!

Me too, and I’ve never needed to do that so I’m nervous about it…:nervous-guy:

Hiya VG! I think it will work well, time will tell!
Good news, cgts Boo. Looking forward to watching you grow.
Thanks Carmen!
Congratulations on the new sprouts pretty face!
Thanks Tra!
I’m really happy you got some baby’s going. I’ve been missing your work with the autos and looking forward to the inspiration you bring. Green and Big!
Thanks Nev! I’ve been missing it too and will do my best to bring home the Green and Big!

Thats all for today. Thanks so much for looking in and for the support!

I’m so doing this my next round. I love that hack! Heck I’ll try anything if it makes my plants look as good as yours. :)

Good morning Boo Boop Ba Doop!

So nice to see you and yours. Your Winter sounds like it’s like living in a freezer!

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Great looking plants. I’m super interested in the Blackberry. I love watching plants who have the odds stacked against them but learn to sing at the adoring care from their owner.

Blueberry...she be fine.

I've had worse looking plants turn out great. If you have a shit-ton of seeds you can reconsider but for now I'd just give her some tlc.

I have my sprouts in with my autos on a seedling mat. If you have the room , stick them in there. I'm quickly running out of room myself and need to set forth a plan.

Hi, Boo!
That SS looks like she's very happy with her new "digs"....
Blackberry is trying oh so hard to make a turn around
She really does look like she's trying, and the new growth looks right- coupla weeks and her slow start
will just be a memory... :thumb:
I prefer to mix the mosquito bits into the soil vice a five gallon bucket of water
I just put a little "chunk of a dunk"in the reservoirs now, and I threw half of a dunk into my 55 gallon rain barrel- the double dose of BTI has kept the gnats away pretty well...
I’m wondering if I can put all the babies along with the Skunk into my tent with the two Atreum Hydras, the one heater, the Vicks warm steam humidifier, and heating mats.
It'd be easier on you- to control just one environment instead of 2...

Hi all! I thought I’d drop a little update to demonstrate “proof of life”… :cheesygrinsmiley: Let’s start with the autoflower tent!
PXL_20230213_220514070.jpg

I finally got the tent temperature dialed in! :yahoo: The humidity could be higher, but it’s way better than it was.!
PXL_20230213_220520771.jpg

Just a little view of the set up. Now for some baby pics.
PXL_20230213_220531018.MP.jpg

Blackberry continues fight. That’s just fine by me!
PXL_20230213_220535968.jpg

Mimosa Cake is doing well, she’s got a good color and I’m looking forward to bringing this one to harvest! @StoneOtter - yes, she is a mix of Mimosa and Wedding Cake…YUM!
PXL_20230213_220543770.jpg

Orange Sherbet is the biggest of them all and I thought about up potting her before she goes to flower….
PXL_20230213_220555724.PORTRAIT.jpg

but I noticed this… :hmmmm: I thought I used brand new Pro Mix for these two (Mimosa Cake and Orange Sherbet) but I must have mixed the two cups with fresh ProMix and that must be one of the seeds that didn’t sprout. Oof! I really hope it’s the Wookies. :cheesygrinsmiley: I’m going to wait a bit to see if it gets a little bigger and then try to untangle them and transplant.🤞 On to the Skunk:
PXL_20230213_220656306.MP.jpg

Temps and humidity are good here too. I love those little oil heaters!
PXL_20230213_220651911.jpg

Nice and healthy, mite free growth. Yay! She is in a 5 gal pot right now and feels likes she will be ready for a feeding tomorrow.
PXL_20230213_220643223.jpg

A view of her home.
PXL_20230213_220721549.MP.jpg

And a view of both homes. I’m so psyched to have the tents working out (so far!).

I’m not sure if any of you have noticed the plastic storage containers in my yard from the summer grow pics…but those are feral cat houses I made. It was so cold last winter with a combined several feet of snow and there were two cats that were hanging out in my back yard when I bought this place - I had to do something for them! I have never fed them and I‘ve watched them hunt and kill squirrels and birds and bunnies, but I think someone must be feeding them too, as they are all very large cats. Anyway, that number has grown to 7 gorgeous cats, but clearly they are not spayed or neutered. I reached out to a local rescue and today was finally the day that we set traps to catch them, spay/neuter them, and then return to the back of my yard. We got a couple of them today and hopefully the rest of them tomorrow. Please send some good juju their way so they can get some much needed medical attention. Happy early Valentine’s Day!:love::love:
