Best Portable Vape?

Lots of vape talk lately...

Anyways, I am looking to get my first vape, but I want a portable one with great results.

I was looking at the Vapir Oxygen Mini, but get really mixed reviews of the company and the product itself.

Then I looked at the VaporGenie, and while I have heard decent things about it, its not digital and uses a lighter to heat still, so I have a hard time believing its a great vape to use.

Any other suggestions?

I have used the vapor genie, and it takes some practice. Working off a lighter and heating porcelin screen, it can take some time to reach the right tempeture, and until it does it sucks....

but once you get it right, and are consitent... it rocks.

A protip would be to get the "ash" wood, it has a longer stem and works better.

The ashwood VaporGenie doesn't have a longer stem, but the handcarved ones do..

bubblekarma, the VaporGenie is amazing, I haven't used a portable electric vape, but I've been using the VaporGenie every day for almost 5 months now, and it is absolutely amazing. Especially now that I have a torch lighter (just got it a few days ago), it's so much faster to use a torch lighter instead of a candle lighter..the hits only take about 5-7 seconds and you can even use it when there is slight wind.
I've also used a digital Volcano vaporizer multiple times, and I can tell you that it is no better than the VaporGenie. The only difference when it comes to vaporizing is that it is easier to use the Volcano at first, but once you learn the VaporGenie it is extremely easy (I haven't burnt the herb in months). The vapor quality is no different, but the VaporGenie does have a smaller bowl. They both use a ceramic heating element to vaporize by convection.

I think the Magic-Flight Lauch Box is the best.

Magic-Flight

114$CAD shipped. High cost for what it is, but it's really nice.

It's really small. mostly odorless.. and pretty quick! 4 seconds and you can get a hit. I would not make this as my primary vape, but it's very nice when going outside. You'll probably don't like it at first, but when u get used to it, u get the best of it and it works great.

I just received my Vapir NO2. Never having tried a vaporizer before, I can't add too much, other than my own experience.

Set it up!
Unpacked it and set it up, directions were eerily simple. Included were extra screens, scrapers & brush, 1 spoon, 1 whip, 1 mouthpiece.

Put in the battery, plugged it in, turned it on, set the temp to 360ºF. Took about 90 seconds to heat to temperature. I left it on heat for about 10 minutes or so, I read this helps to clear out any plastic/funky tastes and aromas.

Tried it out!
Took off the mouthpiece/top & loaded the chamber about 3/4 full, reattached the top.

Inhaled... Warm, sweet, mellow. No big lung expansion, no coughing spasm.
Exhale... a light, delicious mist leaves the lips.

I put in about 1/3 of what I would put in a bong hit and had 2 very sweet hits, followed by 5 or so "grassy" tasting hits. The buzz crept up on me.

The Verdict!
Ease of use: 8.0 - A little more insight & instructions on how to "real-world" use it, would be nice in the manual.

Aesthetics: 8.0

Pros
  • It's hella portable!
  • Heats up very quickly!
  • It works.

Cons
  • It's kind of futuristic/phallic looking. (Ever have that "I'm blowing a robot feeling"?)
  • The "heat" button looks like a "power" button and is a little confusing. The power button is on the side, occasionally I would accidentally switch the unit off.
  • The battery level meter is very wonky!

Customer service: 9.5 - Great bunch of friendly, helpful people.

Overall:
This is a good vape, especially if you need the portability. The hits are good, and it conserves a little on the amount you may need.

Overall, I'd like to see the price on these in the sub-$145 range over. At $180 it's cool being an early adopter and all, but I really think the manufacturing costs cannot be that high, it's a good device at it's current price, but I think it could be a better value at a more just price point.

Wish List!
It would be awesome it the unit had modular chambers you could drop in that were different sized. The chamber size in the unit is not removable, and is good for two people, maybe three, but more than that would require a lot of unloading and loading.

I've only had it a day and I like it. It is a definite trial and error process until you find a method that works well for you. Perhaps as the weeks progress and I spend more time with the NO2, I can post some more insight.

I don't think it will replace smoking a bowl or joint 100%, but I will use it, as it does work and it seems to stretch out my stash, as I still have almost half of yesterday's dose left!

I also recommend the Magic Flight Launch Box. I picked one up a few weeks ago and it's just as advertised. Small, stealthy and effective. And very little odor. And no flame. It's the perfect device for me during the holidays when the extended family comes in to stay with me.

I will always prefer a glass bong vs. anything but I think the MFLB is a genius invention. It fills that situational void when you need your meds but when you're not in position to use your normal intake device.

I wish I had it when I went to those Pink Floyd concerts oh so many years ago! What a band. What a show.

I just bought the Aluminum Bat VG online today. I've been toking for almost three years now and STILL don't have my own piece, so this will be my first. Very excited. Never tried vaporizers before but I toke a lot and it's just getting too harsh on my lungs and throat. As far as the heating/lighter situation goes, I've read it's more of a minor inconvenience, and after some trial and error people seem to get the hang of it pretty quickly. I'll update this post after I use it (for anyone that may be interested).

So I just wanted to update my portable vape of choice, the Magic Flight Launch Box now that I've had it for a while and understand how to use it best.

Strictly out of necessity, I've been forced to use a stealthy portable vape for the past 2 months and surprisingly, I have come to love this MFLB. It was disappointing at first because the high was slightly different-- cleaner and lighter-- but then I learned how to get a satisfying hit with it and now I think I'm going to stay with the vape.

Basically what I do is cover the intake hole and press the battery until the plastic cover fogs up-- meaning the small chamber is filled with vapor. And then I inhale while still holding the battery in place and heating the bud. At this point it may not technically be vaping the bud (because the element has been heating the bud so long that it's probably producing a low level of smoke) but this method does give you that full, satisfying effect. And the vapor that you exhale smells nutty like roasted peanuts rather than like cannabis.

And I forgot to mention that you aren't using flame. Just two AA batteries that produce a charge which lights up an element like a hot coal underneath a screen of bud. Two batteries that they supply which you recharge every night with the charger that's included.

Anyhow I have found the MFLB completely satisfying and totally inconspicuous. You can take it anywhere and get your intake without drawing any attention.

I just use it at home, in the evening in the manner described and it's got me off the smoke. I honestly think it's a genius device and I give it my highest recommendation.

I am just waiting on receiving my Iolite and a Magic Flight Box. I will be comparing them and posting a review of them very soon. They seem to be amongst the best of the currently available portable flameless vaporizers.

I've heard good things about that Iolite too. I might pick one up the next time I need a new device. I'm interested in the comparison.

Also, I wanted to correct my explanation of the MFLB. The MFLB doesn't actually heat an element under the bud. It actually heats up the entire screen (which is shaped like a basket) that holds the bud. That's how it creates the vapor.

I'm one of those people who prefers the water bong over everything. I never thought I'd make the conversion to vaping unless I had the Volcano (which is outstanding). But I'm not dropping six hundred bones on a vaporizer. These smaller devices do work effectively and I'm a believer now. Now it's just vapor and edibles and my lungs are better for it.

Can anyone comment on this electric "Stashbox Vapourizer" I am interested in buying this but the cheap price makes me wonder if it is anygood?

The MFLB is really great - no doubt - but not really discreet enough for me
I have been using these dry herb cartridges from marijuana-ecig.com and they have been pretty good to me so far...:cheer:

I have 2 of the Vapir NO2 Fully Portable Cordless Digital Vaporizer and a cig charger and it's wonderful. No lighter to heat up anything and easy to carry around the house or sit on the couch. Also has an adjustable heat range as well.

There are new Vapes out... This is the one I will be getting at the end of the month... About the same price as the MFLB... I like the form factor better... VaporX XRT Vaporizer | Vapor X Vaporizers | Portable Vaporizer | VaporNation

I'll write a review... If anyone has experience with it, please let me know... I like the idea it can do herb or hash... Very cool, if it works.
