This site was so helpful when I was questioning my first full-term grow last year, I thought I'd try posting my personal grow journal and pics to this online grow journal. Maybe it can help someone else, and me.
I'm about 10 days into flowering, so bear with me as I catch you up...
Holy Grail Kush is the strain from DNA Genetics. Feminized seeds. It's Kosher Kush X The OG #18. You can read all about it here: DNA Genetics Holy Grail Kush
This first post covers January. Why? The site limits each post to a max of 50 images.
Dec 31, 2014:
Placed 1 seed in rock wool.
Jan 3, 2015:
showing germination, sprouting.
Jan 4, 2015:
moved rockwool cube into 6" net pot surrounded by hydroton (expanded clay pellets) for DWC hydro grow using black 5-gallon buckets.
Seedling already stretched a lot, so I'm adjusting the lights closer.
Jan 5, 2015:
My original setup is using a 3'x3' Aviditi grow tent I bought from Amazon. I wouldn't recommend this tent because I've had a lot of problems with the cheap plastic hangers breaking. I placed the tent close to a cool window and ran 6" ductwork through the top of the tent, across the room to a charcoal filter in a closet thinking it would help separate the heat from the tent. The blower is a VenTech IF6. I got the combo with the virgin charcoal carbon filter from amazon. The two light reflectors are iPower GLARCL6 Littlesun Hood Reflector 6" from Amazon. Each light set is iPower GLSETX400DHMWING 400-Watt Light Digital Dimmable System for Plants - Wing Set. (In hindsight, I should've splurged for the 1000-watt light.) I'm using a "VenTech VTSPEED Variable Dial Router Fan Speed Controller for Duct and Inline Fans" on the duct fan to keep it quieter. And to oxygenate the water in the DWC hydro, I'm using a "Hydrofarm AAPA15L 6-Watt 15-LPM Active Aqua Air Pump with 4 Outlets", directing 2 outlets into 1 "Hydrofarm AS4RD 4-Inch Active Aqua Round Air Stone", using 2 airstones in the 1 bucket for a good amount of air/oxygen. I'm also using a "Indoor Air Quality Meter - CO2, Temperature & Relative Humidity" to keep an eye on the CO2 and humidity in the tent.

Jan 8, 2015:
It stopped stretching, but with the weight of the new leaves, it fell over. Didn't repair itself last night. I removed it from the net pot, removed some clay pellets, and buried it deeper, with an extra 3" or so of the stem buried. I also switched from 22/2 to 20/4 hoping the stalk will thicken up tonight. Also made several adjustments to the lights, fans, etc.
Jan 9, 2015:
Straightended itself back up towards the light after burying it deeper...
Jan 10, 2015:
Still stretching! I lowered the lights to about a foot away from the top of the bucket. Adjusted light timing from 20/4 to 19/5. Fresh water.
4.5 gal H2O
8 g MasterBlend fertilizer (tomato blend)
4 g CaNO3 (Calcium Nitrate)
4 g MgSO4 (magnesium sulfate, a.k.a. Epsom Salt)
1215 microSiemens (measured with Hanna Instruments PRIMO5 EC Tester I bought on Amazon)
initial pH was 6.30 pH. (measured with Milwaukee MW102 PH and Temperature Meter I bought on Amazon)
Used pH Down to drop it to 5.78 pH.
1/11/2015:
Leaf tips started curling upwards. Assuming too much nutes. Poured off maybe a gallon and replaced with tap water.
978 microSiemens
6.47 pH
pH down to 5.80 pH
1/13/2015:
1/15/2015:
1/17/2015:
1/18/2015 (actually 1/19/2015 12:44am)
Duct fan went out. Plant getting hot.
3.6 gal H2O
6 g MasterBlend fertilizer
3 g CaNO3
3 g MgSO4
1215 microSiemens
pH Down to 5.82 pH
1/21/2015:
Added a "Holmes HTF3110A-WM 31-Inch Oscillating Tower Fan" I bought from Amazon for better air movement around the leaves and maybe to keep it a little cooler.
1/22/2015:
1/24/2015:
4 gal H2O
10 g MasterBlend fertilizer
5 g CaNO3
5 g MgSO4
1466 microSiemens
initially 6.41 pH
pH Down to 5.91 pH
Leaf spots developing, wasn't sure why. In hindsight, I think it was because both the humidity was too low and the pH keeps climbing out of range for hydro, blocking the uptake of some essential nutrients.
1/25/2015:
rootball is beautiful to me.
1/29/2015:
Already used most her water.
pH in old water: 6.85 pH
4.5 gal H2O
12 g MasterBlend fertilizer
6 g CaNO3
6 g MgSO4
1677 microSiemens
pH Down to 5.79 pH
