Basic first grow

This is my first attempt at growing I'm going as simple as possible I just want to make sure what I get will work. I have a 32x32x68 grow tent with Marshydro reflector 96, three 5gal smart pots, fox farm ocean forest soil and a 4in fan and filter. I'm also useing nem autoflowering seeds. I'm looking just to be able to water them as needed and let them grow.

it should all work as far as equipment goes. its going to up to the grower to make everything work together and be able to read the plant. just do your research. first time around is always a learning curve but if you keep coming here for advice you will be ok. lots of people always willing to help

i have seen alot of people try and go that rout by using soils with the nutes already in it. i am not sure what you are using for soil as i have not used fox farm. chances are that your soil will get depleted of nutes fast as cannabis uses alot of food. most of the time these soils are good to get you started and take the guess work out of feeding small plants, but as you move through veg and into flower your plant will be using alot of nutes to feed itself. this means you will have to buy some good nutes from your grow store and something to test you ph. this is the big learning curve. learning how and when to feed you girls while reading what there needs are. all bottles have feeding instructions printed on the back but its best not to go full strength right out of gate. start at 50% and watch you girls. make adjustments as you learn the plant and how it grows. and always remember its better to under feed then over feed

the basic would be a good 2-part or 3-part nute system. IMO i would go with a 3 part fertilizer. most people start off with "general hydroponics 3-part mirco, grow, bloom." these 3 parts are mixed in different ratios as you plant moves through its life, but the labels will have instructions for this.these nutes cost me about 12$ a litter where i live and you will need the 3 parts. the most important part of feeding is you ph. and remember the guy at the grow store is there to help you. you dont have to tell him what you are growing, he already knows. be ready to spend about 50% or so to get into basic nutes and ph testers.

i must warn. i do not know how this will react with you fox farm soil. i just looked it up and see it has nutes in it. but how long they will last is unknown to me. again i would ask your friend at the grow store about this or hopefully someone here has some experience in using that soil and can help direct you better as when to start feeding. i personally like a soiless mix, this means i can control every nute all the way through the grow cycle and takes the guess work out of it.

Mind if I jump in? Been using foxfarm for years myself. The soil will have enough nutrients for 1 month then you have to add fertilizer. All you need is 3 part system by Natures Nectar, it's organic, no need to PH, no need to change amounts you use except towards end of harvest you drop the nitrogen out. There's 3 bottles, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. I can't stress enough how well this stuff works.

Ok the seeds popped and I put them in the soil and turned the light on veg running it 24/7 right now. The rooms temp is on the cool side, like low 60s maybe, Will that be a problem.

Is it okay to leave the lights on 24/7. What nutrients do I need to get how much do I need to use and how do I measure it out into the water

Hi Adam , Just do as Budley suggests and you will have all your answers .
Atrain introduced me to Advanced nutrients , great product , and he was also the one that showed Tang's feed schedule that i use .
Just a tip but unless you have the amount of light then don,t go to heavy on nutes .
Oh you can have your lights on 24/0 , that's what i did but now i run 20/4 , it might sound daft but the plant just seem happier now .
have a look at my thread you might see some tips .

How to Grow Marijuana - Everything You Need to Know

This page will be invaluable to you if you use it! I'll try to give you the answers to your specific questions but you'll have lots more and it's all already written down somewhere!

For autos I believe it is ok to grow them with lights 24/7 but I see a lot of people giving a few hours darkness (e.g. 20/4) which might be a healthy thing.. You keep the light schedule the same the whole grow.

For nutes, as someone has said you don't need to feed for roughly 1 month! Don't do it! You can kill your plants.
Marijuana needs several nutes which are broken into two categories (macro and micro).
The macros are n, p, k, ca, mg, and s.
For veg you need high n.
For bloom you need high p and k.
Growing under leds, plants burn through ca and mg. I use a cal-mag supplement.
In addition, silica is a hugely beneficial nute which should be given regularly during veg. It can be found in products like protekt.

All bottled nutes will have some combination of these, it's up to you to decide what to use.

Read up!
Good luck!

I veg at 18/6, save a little power, eh? Plants are just like us.......they need sleep....... all kinds of biological shit goes on in the dark. Bring those temps up for the seedlings, get a heat pad for starts. They like it a little warmer to get going.

Cheers

I read a trains feeding schedule but don't understand it fully can I get a list of the nutes I need and when to use them and how much it's not very clear it to me

Ok for like one hour I try to post some pictures of the setup and the 3 girls from my cell phone but I just can't figure it out I got them uploaded to my gallery but I don't know how to put them one the thread.

It has been 13 days since putting the seeds in the fox farm, I have been watering them carefully and by that I mean between the 3 of them they have only had a little over a gallon of water from the tap(we have a well). I have been spraying them with a squirt bottle of tap water as well to keep the top soil and leafs damp. The led light is just on veg 24/7, (should I go ahead and put the flower side one too?) and the girls are doing good 2 already have 2 long leafs and 2 short and the third is a little behind and just starting to sprout. They appear healthy and happy.

A few questions.
Should I be leaving my lights on 24 7?
Am I watering too much or too little?
Should I go ahead and use the power on the lights?
