Illinois - The Bartlett village board approved the proposed 2013 property tax levy and an ordinance requiring medical marijuana cultivation centers and dispensing facilities to be special uses during a meeting Tuesday night. A public hearing on the proposed property tax levy which amounts to nearly $9.4 million, a more than 5 percent decrease from the 2012 extension is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
The ordinance regarding medical marijuana cultivation centers and dispensing facilities requires them to be special uses in either the village's I-1 or I-2 economic development area districts. That restriction, along with the state requirement that the facilities and centers be a certain distance from residentially zoned properties, schools and day care centers, means eligible spaces are only available in the Brewster Creek Business Park.
