Here is a reality tv show called Kop Busters Setting up cops. I think this is a great idea for Barry Cooper to do!
Proof of Police Corruption - Barry Cooper sets up a fake marijuana grow house and video tapes the illegal police raid
Barry Cooper, the cop-turned-critic, has just pulled a marvelous stunt in the name of fighting the War on Drugs, as reported by Reason's Hit & Run blog.
From Cooper's site, Never Get Busted, comes this account of what happened:
KopBusters rented a house in Odessa, Texas and began growing two small Christmas trees under a grow light similar to those used for growing marijuana. When faced with a suspected marijuana grow, the police usually use illegal FLIR cameras and/or lie on the search warrant affidavit claiming they have probable cause to raid the house. Instead of conducting a proper investigation which usually leads to no probable cause, the Kops lie on the affidavit claiming a confidential informant saw the plants and/or the police could smell marijuana coming from the suspected house.
The trap was set and less than 24 hours later, the Odessa narcotics unit raided the house only to find KopBuster's attorney waiting under a system of complex gadgetry and spy cameras that streamed online to the KopBuster's secret mobile office nearby.
We've all been reading and watching as more and more dubious drug raids make it into the news, and it's good that someone has finally started to do something about it. While Cooper is more than a little theatric and comes off as disingenuous, I'm not sure that detracts from this demonstration.
That the police would fabricate and fudge documents to grant themselves permission for a drug raid where there was absolutely no probably cause has no been concretely proven, and I do not believe it is an isolated incident.
With each passing day, the War On Drugs makes less sense and looks more criminal.
