U.K. - A MAN caught growing six cannabis plants in his house said he was producing them for medicinal purposes.
Jonathon Keylock, aged 37, of Merstow Place, Evesham, pleaded guilty to cultivating the six plants when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.
Liam Finch, prosecuting, said: "Officers attend the address for unrelated matters and while there come across the six plants.
"When he is later interviewed he is extremely frank with police and says he bought the plants and the equipment used to grow them six months ago for £550.
"He said he was in the process of producing cannabis and the crown accept that he did so purely for his own consumption."
Defending himself, Keylock said he bought the plants after a serious back operation.
He said: "I've always suffered from back pain and I smoke cannabis, not on a regular basis, just when I was in pain."
Keylock was fined £200, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge.
