Florence - City leaders in Casa Grande have denied a permit for an overnight medical marijuana festival on Halloween weekend.
The Casa Grande Dispatch reports that the "Errl Camp" was to be held at the Casa Grande Domes on Oct. 29 and 30 as a celebration for people who use medical marijuana. According to the permit application, medical marijuana wouldn't be sold at the event but attendees could bring and use it.
The application says the festival would include live music, campfires and dancing and would only admit people with a valid medical marijuana card.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously rejected the permit last week, citing concerns about the event's proximity to the interstate and the inability for designated drivers to attend.
Applicant Jim Morrison believes the board didn't give his event a fair chance.
