Autos are hard

First grow post. I have an autoflower garden that is about 6 weeks into flowering. Although planted at essentially same time, they all appear to be in different stages. Lately, leaves have been turning yellow and some are falling off. BuildaSoil Light with some of their amendments (BuildaFlower top dress, BuildaBloom, coconut powder and Quillaja extract). I’ve nute burned these plants, stunted them, but the buds on some of the plants are frosty and smell delightful. A few days ago I showed a photo of my garden to old grower and he said they were starving and begged me to add 5ml General Hydroponics NovaBloom, which I did. Haven’t really noticed anything. Plants seem to be stagnant with bud growth. 74-80 during day; 68 night; 45% humidity. Plants usually take close to 1/2 gallon of water every 3 days, pHed to 6.5. At the back are Tangerine autos; middle ones are Super Skunk autos and front is GSC auto, all from Seed Supreme. This is my first autoflower garden and it is hard. Suggestions on how to finish strong welcomed.

Thanks, although I keep over feeding them, another reason I think I need to switch to a synth program. I’m a new grower that has absolutely no feel for what my plants need or want. I’ll learn. I just hope I can save the buds. I have missed the smell of skunky bud so bad! Why did skunky bud go out of style?! It is the epitome of cannabis!

It is a learning process especially the dry and cure of it. I would also stick with experienced genetic breeders who offer great product and lineages, not general seed banks. JMO. Look at Bean Genie, Nightowl, Metifisto Ethos, Dream Beans for a couple. Good luck and stick with it.

I gave up on Skunk/Cheese strains because the smell is irrepressible; sticks to your clothes, the walls, everything

I’m not concerned about the dry/cure. I paid to keep it easy by investing in 2 Cannatrols. I love them and they work great. I will definitely check out those seed banks. I basically picked Seed Supreme to start because they have a good reputation and I like the old school genetics. Anyone ever hear about flushing with living soil? Wondering if that will bring plants back to health. Also, I just invested in nice Apera PH40 pH pen, but what other tools do I need? I’m not used to flushing and checking run off.

I actually want to experience that problem. I’m only growing 5 plants and there is smell, but not the overwhelming odor I thought I would have. My first photo garden was 2 Blue Dream and 1 Blue Cheese. Smell was off and on but it never got crazy stinky, even though those 2 are known stinkers. I would be happy if my entire house smelled like weed. I haven’t even had to use my carbon filters on my in line fans.

Flushing the medium is for synthetic nutes, residual salts - you should not need to do that with LOS
The only other tools I use is a temp/RH meter

Blue Dream is not at all loud, try original UK Cheese if you want to smell your grow from your local bar lol

Flushing is proving to be a Bro Myth according to many recent studies. You cannot flush ina 7 to 10 day period what nutrients your plant absorbed. It takes how long for it to use and get those nutrients, and people think flushing for 7 to 10 days will take care of that, no way. Maybe after 4 or 6 weeks it will have eliminated some, but you kill the plant at the same time. If you flush soil you take every remaining nutrient out of it and would have to completely re-amend it as well. I haven't flushed a plant, and the smoke is great. PH tester will definitely help and patience.

Thanks for this. Growing in living soil, I had been looking forward to not checking pH (very controversial apparently) and flushing, which I also read is Bro Science. I checked with BuildaSoil. They recommended top dressing of gypsum and bio char. I keep wanting to feed. I haven't the ability yet to look at a plant and know what the hell is going on. I'll learn eventually, hopefully. I'm looking forward to experimenting more. Grow the same strain with organics, synthetics and coco and see what does best. Thanks for the response and happy new year!

Yep. The plant stores all those nutrients in the leaves along with the sucrose it makes during photosynthesis.

This has come up many times over the years but I have to go back to what we learned long ago. Flushing a natural dirt/compost type of soil removes much of the available nutrients and the micro-organisms. The soil stays healthy and within several minutes the micro-organisms are reproducing and once again digesting the organic material.

General consensus is that the population of all these organisms will continue to reproduce until it stabilizes at the level it was before the flushing. This pretty much takes a day and a half up to two days based on what I came across reading about the ups and downs of the micro-organisms in a dirt based soil.

No need to add amendments unless they were used up by the organisms during a intensive growth cycle for whatever plants were in the soil mix. The water will not remove them.
