Autoflowers

I just completed my first attempt with auto's and my biggest lesson learned was to stay away from the veg nutrients and to use only bloom nutrients. I also needed to either eliminate ocean forest all together or cut it down to a 30/70. 70 being happy Frog. Good luck.

I'm about to grow my first autoflower just wandering if you grow it the same as non auto's any advice would be appreciated
Hiya whiteant.
Other than not up potting an auto, I pretty much treat it the same. I start autos in 3 or 5 gallon pot from the beginning. I've read that some people now tranplant them into bigger pots, so even that is being put to the test.
Also training can be a bit diferent depending on the strain, some strains start flowering quickly and you can get better results using low stress training.
Check out a great member here called @InTheShed , he has a thread about LST for autos. He grows some great autos.

If you check out the section of the message board which shows the threads with new postings since your last visit you will find a lot of threads that are about growing auto-flower plants.

I go there every morning and check the threads, even the ones for growing methods that I do not do, just to get more info. I never know, maybe one day I will want to try hydro and will already have a head start on the method. Same goes for using coco. Those kinda interest me. Growing auto-flowers less so but if I see a thread about those types of plants I take a look.

Something to do to get a head start on your auto-flower adventure while waiting for other growers to jump in with advice.

Thanks for the shout Listers! Here is a link to the LST thread:

Thanks for that advice. I am new also and planned on trying autos once I get my outdoor grow to a certain stage. I have been using ocean forest on some of the plants. Different soils or combination on others. Lots of great knowledge on this site from lots of friendly people.

If you only use bloom nutrients your auto plants will get a nitrogen defeciency or not reach their potential.

Germinate like normal, I use rapid Rooters and go directly into 7 gal smart pots. Water sparingly the first week or two, like 8oz water mornings in circles as wide as the leaves.

Skip the ocean forest for autos, use Happy Frog as FFOF is to hot to start autos.

Feed 1/4 to 1/3 strength nutes as soon as they go in the dirt. I use Mega Crop and get great results. Have Cal/mag handy, Superthrive every 4 feedings with normal nutes helps avoid defeciencies. If you want to use a flower booster hit Amazon for Flower Fuel and use it 1/2 strength with the Mega Crop, cheap works great and doesn't cause nute lockout with mega Crop.

Feeding, 2gm mega Crop a gallon and feed as soon as in the dirt. Use 2gm for a week and up it by 1gm every week until you hit 5gm and hold there until it flowers then move to 6gm and 1/2 strength Flower fuel. Some people will say it's not that simple but it is, just watch for the leaf tips to turn yellow or brown and if they do back off 1/2 gram MC for a week. Across 40 or so autos from name brand seed banks not one has gotten nute burn doing this. Remember you are training them to take nutes and they have a limited lifespan so start nutes immediately.

On average I'm getting 11zips from a topped and LST'd plant. If I trim in veg, LST and top I can keep them in veg and get 17zips but it takes 4 months. 11zips takes 3 months. Using 7 gal smart pots is important, 5gal will likely drop you to 7 or 8 zips. I'm using one budget led 250w and a Mars Hydro 100w for 350w.
