Two marijuana growing operations were shut down in Cherokee County and four suspected dealers arrested Thursday following a month-long, multi-jurisdictional investigation by the Cherokee Multi Agency Narcotics Squad.
Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, said C-MANS officials seized approximately 12 pounds of marijuana, three marijuana grow operations and 106 marijuana plants.
Baker said agents worked in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Regional Drug Office in Canton, GBI West Metro Task Force, North East Georgia Major Offenders Task Force, Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad Unit, Atlanta Police Narcotics Unit, Dawson County Sheriff's Office, Cherokee Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and narcotics agents from Dawson, Hall, and Gwinnett counties to execute search and arrest warrants in each of the counties listed above.
"We are very pleased with the current results of this ongoing investigation," said Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison. "It is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when local and state agencies work together to remove illegal drugs from our streets"
A tip from the public sparked the investigation and culminated in the arrests of Ollie Marchbanks, 32, of Snellville; Noah Sanders, 36, of Dawsonville; Graig Medon, 33, of Gainesville, and Madeline Stoddard, 25 of Gainesville.
Marchbanks was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana and is out of jail on an $11,200 bond. Sanders was charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and remains in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on a $22,400 bond. Medon was charged with manufacturing marijuana and was released under an $11,200 bond. Stoddard was charged with felony possession of marijuana and released on an $11,200 bond.
"Two indoor marijuana grow operations were located in homes on Ernie Road in eastern Cherokee County," Baker said.
The third indoor marijuana grow operation was located in Hall County.
Baker said the investigation remains ongoing and more arrests are likely.
