New York City law enforcement have seized what they call one of the "biggest ever" stashes of cash linked to a marijuana ring.
Investigators nabbed the $1.1 million from a Little Italy apartment -- and the money was all liked to the sale of marijuana, officials said.
Officials told NBCNewYork the pot was all Canadian Bud -- the most expensive variety out there.
The ongoing probe of the suspected money ring at 153 Mulberry St., an apartment adjacent to the Italian American Museum, has been dubbed "Here we go round the Mulberry bush" by investigators.
Last month detectives and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Daniel McGehean, the apartment's 32-year-old tenant, and Canadian national Richard Doyon, 37.
Both are set to be arraigned today in Manhattan Supreme Court. Two other men, Dehran Duckworth and real estate agent Richard Burke, were also busted last month with pounds of pot in a duffel bag.
Some of the $1.1 million -- which was wrapped in plastic when investigators found it -- was headed to California, where it was to fund a Mexican ******* buy, prosecutors said. The rest was apparently headed back to Canada.
Dealers packaged the cash in shrink-wrap to hide the odor of pot and chemicals that are used to process the drugs, according to court papers.
