Phoenix - Besides choosing our next president, voters in Arizona may have to decide whether to legalize the recreational use of a marijuana.
That's if election officials find that pro-pot group the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol submitted enough valid signatures on its petition to get the legalization question on the ballot.
Further, the initiative may not make it that far if attorneys for Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy are able to block it. They will present their arguments in court Tuesday after filing a lawsuit last week to keep legalization off the ballot this November.
They say the citizen's initiative should be blocked, blaming a short explanation of the proposal on petition sheets, saying it doesn't fully describe the proposal.
The suit was brought by 13 different parties including Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk.
Backers of the ballot measure say the lawsuit is an attempt to keep legalizing marijuana away from voters.
