Are these 400Watt MH good?

idk if they are any good tho??.. i was thinkin of taking that front cover off.
or should i get one with a Ballast

those will work if you are good at DIY projects

drawbacks i know of ballast is not separate could be heat issue

light sensor circuit must be fooled bypassed

light pattern from reflector might not work for your space

you can get ballast kits from some hydro shops with hardware for
about the same money if you can do your own wiring and construction

that what most industrial lamps like that are designed for...
 
It's called a low bay light with a cover. the cover has to be removed. I myself would get a old metal tool box and disassemble that puppy and put the ballast and capacitor in the tool box and make a reflector for the socket after adding 10 feet of 12guage cord to make it a remote ballast. But to answer your question...it will make a great light with a little work.

lol no they don't;) those were the first lights (got two from work):grinjoint:I've had to to start growing but I did what Raceface said
^^^^ those can be made in to a remote ballast eazy if you know what you're doing .Just get a better hood when you get more cash
