Anyone grow in wood containers outside?

Hello all, I am getting my second outside grow in order and was thinking about using a wooden crate or container set right on the the ground. Last year I grew in the ground with very good results but I thought if I had a good size container it might be easier. Does anyone grow in containers on the ground and if so how big? I am using coot's mix just as I did last year. Also some good fabric pots also might be a option. Any opinions? Thanks all.

I cant comment much on the answers you're looking for, but a word of caution. Some crates have some nasty chemicals that are used to treat them (international standards for shipping crates). Look it over for stamps or tags on the wood, there will be a code that you can look up if it was treated for international standards.

Best of luck!
