Anti Pest Organic Setup

Hi party people!

I currently don’t have a pest problem but I know I have aphids on the property.. I have been spraying these girls with neem oil and seems to deal with them. I will soon be moving them to the garden so they can grow as big as possible.

I really don’t want to spray past vegetation so I was wondering if there are suggestions for preventing bugs. I have read cidarcide mulch could help but also don’t want to mess up PH or the taste of the buds. This is only my second time growing and the first outdoors. I just want to see if there are any tricks I can do to the setup to help prevent it from happening? Would like to keep organic as possible. I will be caging them in to prevent rabbits and ground hogs.. with them close together (enough space tho) and could maybe have some tape or something sticky around it but have no idea what I am looking for. Thanks and any advise would be great!

Type is Skywalker OG and I live in south Virginia.

99% of the IPM gear we use is organic (ipm stands for integrated pest management) It’s not enough to waterboard a few beans… to grow successfully one must become a wizard at pest management too. Cool part is we don’t use harsh chemicals anyway, not a complete list but some of the most popular ipm products we use

Sulfur… duh stinky but 100% organic
SNS uses rosemary oil and/or clove oil
Neem oil comes from Neem seed meal
Spinosad is an isolate from sugar cane production
BTi and BTk are naturally occurring soil bacterium’s
Pyretherin comes from crushed chrysanthemums
Oil based products like mineral oil or canola oil

There’s toxicity between oils & sulfur when applied as foliar sprays… , don’t use one product within 2 weeks of using the other.

Both SNS and Safers soap are ok to use in flower.

How to spray for pests…

handy little reminder and yup sounds funny but there’s logic behind it, The reminder is… Always go up her skirt first. Seriously, leaf undersides is where bugs hide out and attach their eggs.

Mix your potion according to manufacturers instructions.
Shake well and shake often while spraying.
Always go up her skirt first… Coat leaf undersides first… cuz if you do it backwards and spray the top side first then the leaves will be dropping down and you won’t get good coverage under the canopy.
After going up her skirt then spray from topside down.
Always spray as soon as the sun goes down… so it doesn’t burn foliage & dries before the sun rises.

Then there’s push pull concept… plant bug discouraging companion plants adjacent to your weed crop to push critters away… and plant bug attracting companion plants further away to pull the critters away from your weed crop

That’s all I’ve got, hope it helps & best of luck with your garden
