Hi guys, my name is Andrew, im from Romania, first im sorry for my bad english, im sooo glad to be a member of this forum. :welcome: I will start by telling you, this is my first grow. Im growing a -Special queen 1- plant. I've studied much about growing marijuana and i want to start this journal with you guys. I have a lot of questions and i need your help on my way to grow this beauties. Enough about me, let me tell you about this plant.

Hybrid 50/50
Veg stage.
Indoor or outdoor? Well this is a good question, at first when i put the seeds in the pot i wanted to grow them indoors but because is summer, i take the pot outside to have light directly from the sun.
Soil. i dont have a mixed soil yet.
Size of light? Indoor i have a single CFL - 150watt, i guess it's enough light for 2 plants
Is it aircooled? Yes it is
PH of my soil is about 6.7 -7.2
I dont use ferts yet.

Now i will start by giving you some pictures of my plants. Note that cultivation of these plants is ilegal in my country.

And with this photos i have some questions. I just want you to help me. And with your help guys i think this plants will grow beautiful and healthy. :thanks:

Yeah.. Well thank you for reading this thread. Sorry again for my bad english! Have a great day, love you, peace.

Thank you for this information, i will buy another lights. But if i keep them outside at the sun light is ok?

Yes, the sun is a great source. I'd prefer to grow most of my plants outside if I didn't have to worry about stealth. Your main concern there is if you have a strain that will finish in time in your climate. I'm running a couple that are going to be a race on whether they finish in time.

Aye hello again, after a long time i came back with new photos of this beautiful plants. And because im a beginner i have some questions and if ya'll can help me i thank youu soo much! <3

1. I got thrips, after i changed the soil, they vanished, but they are back now and i dont want my plants to be killed by this little insects. Someone know how to treat them, some home made spray or something? Thank you.
2. I heard that i need to cut the lower leaves, is that true? And if it's true which one?
3. If you guys want, tell me something to improve the growing process. If you have any questions please ask me.

Everyone have a great day!! Peace.

Hello Andrew! Good to have you back.

I had a few thrips recently. I limited he infestation with a home-made spray: Garlic and black soap. Just boil garlic in the water for a few minutes, then filter it and let the water cool down. Then, add a few drops of biodegradable black soap. Some people also add chili in the mix. There's a lot of recipes on the Internet.
After that, there were very few thrips left. But to make sure they wouldn't come back, I killed the rest of them with pyrethrum insecticide. It's quite safe to use, even on fruits and vegetables.

Glad to have you back. The links for your pics don't seem to be working. It looks like they are hosted remotely. You can upload them to the mag, it automatically strips the encoded location from them if that's in them.

I've never dealt with thrips personally. One of the keys to pest management is getting a regular maintenance going. I got mites awhile back and every 7-10 days I spray my plants down with a foliar. I was rotating between spinosad and neem oil, which are both natural and not harmful. They can both be used late into flower. Lately I've been using leaf wash, which is a part of Doc buds high brix kit. The kit by itself eliminates a lot of insect issues with the way it grows plants.

I'll check back later and see if the pics pull up then. I've seen that happen sometimes. Welcome back Andrew!

Peace

Yes, I forgot to say that when you use a spray to eliminate pests, you need to spray the plants every few days to stop the reproductive cycle of the insects. If you just spray once, you might kill the adults and the larvae on the leaves but not the eggs in the soil, so the problem will be back a few days later.

Ayee, thank you for helping me, i tryed the recipe with garlic and black soap, and now im waiting to see some results. :Namaste:
Also, i figured out the photos error thing, so you can see the photos here ! Everyone have a great day. PEACE! :peacetwo:

Be sure to spray under the leaves as well. In theory, the garlic should act as a repellent and the black soap should drown and kill the insects. I hope it works for you. If it doesn't, you'll just need to try something more agressive, like spinosad or pyrethrum.
But no need to panic: Thrips are not the worst, they're not really making a lot of damage to the plants, they're just annoying. They're not as bad as mites or mold.

Here, the temperature is like 32-35° celsius and i let them outside. At night the temperature is 20-17° celsius, and i put them inside so is like 15° celsius.
They are nice and happy, love you guys. Thank you for help. Peace!

Yeah, sorry for asking but i have a question, i heard that i need to cut down the bottom leafs of the plants or something like that.. someone told me that if i cut down the leafs the plant will get a boost and will grow bigger and the plants will make more production. Is that true? Sorry for my bad english. Im still a beginner. You see, i love them and i dont want to hurt them, what should i do?

Trimming up the lower branches and bud sites will help put all of its energy into the tops. I've heard recommended that you want to leave the top 3-4 bud sites on each branch. Normally you would do this close to going into flower. And maybe once again when they are mostly done with stretch

Pigeon 420 has a lot of great tutorials on youtube. Trimming in your Cannabis Garden to Maximize Yield w/Pigeons420 - YouTube this one pertains to trimming for yield. He's on the forums here as Rex Pigeon. He's got a lot of tutorials on all things cannabis. Very handy resource.
